Barrel with olivewood handle by Le Sabot

Classic farm worker knife.

Riveted olivewood handle. Carbon steel bolsters on top and bottom.

XC75 carbon steel sheepsfoot blade, satin finish with slipjoint mechanism.

The blade doesn’t have a kick, the tip rests on the back spring. This allows extensive sharpening without the tip overhanging out of the handle once folded (proud tip).

Handle: 3.74in (9.5cm).

Blade: 2.95in (7.5cm).

Blade thickness at ricasso: 0.12in (3mm)

Handle thickness: 0.51in (13mm)

Weight: 2.6oz (74g)

Find the history of the barrel knife following the link

Please bear in mind that the handle is made of natural material and will be slightly different from one piece to another, that’s the beauty of it, each piece is unique. If you have a specific request regarding the grain or color, please send us a message or add a comment to your order.

Blows "Case & Sons" Out of the Water

Posted by D Mann on May 13th 2022

I cannot rate this knife highly enough. It is simply phenomenal. The full flat ground carbon blade is so thin behind the edge that it slices like an Opinel. However the spine thickness is substantial enough that it's capable of hard-use work. The wood handles are beautiful -the pictures don't do it justice. The hafting is very well done -smooth edges and transitions. The carbon steel bolsters, while not perfectly stamped, are very unique and will develop patina and character. The blade centering is perfect (like a GEC). There is zero blade play (the thing is built like a tank). The pull is very firm and very smooth with Gator-like snap. The knife has some heft to it -it's no lightweight. For under $60 you're getting a knife to rival GEC -and to certainly eclipse Case or even Queen. Let me qualify that statement: The finish is not flawless like a GEC, but it's built so tough; the materials are such high quality; and the design and hand-made feel make it so unique that the minor imperfections can simply be chalked-up to "character". It just exudes quality. I'll be buying many Au Sabot knives in future. You'll not regret this purchase
